The Plenary Sessions of the 54th IWC meeting open on Monday 20 May at 10.00am. A representative from the Japanese Government will formally open the session. The Plenary Sessions (20 - 24 May) are open to the media. All other sessions are closed to the media.

The Commission has several committees, sub-committees and working groups. The most important is the Scientific Committee, which holds its meetings 2-3 weeks prior to the Commission's annual meeting.
