Fin Whale (Balaenoptera physalus)

 

Distribution: Across the North Atlantic, especially in the East Greenland-Iceland-Jan Mayen area, and west of the Iberian Peninsula during summer.

Population and Catches: Greenland's quota, as set by the IWC, was 19 annually for 1995, '96 and '97. The population estimate for the North Atlantic east of Greenland is 22,800.
