    Conference on North Atlantic Whaling

    In cooperation with the Fisheries Research Institute at the University of Iceland, the High North Alliance will organise a conference entitled "Whaling in the North Atlantic: Economic and Political Perspectives", in Reykjavik, Iceland, on March 1st 1997. The conference will focus on the Western-Nordic nations’ policies and politics on the whaling issue with reference to international law, the practices of relevant international organisations and the current political climate.

    Lectures will be given by academic experts on the various topics in question, and will be followed by two panel discussions. The first panel will consist of the lecturers, while politicians and representatives for the whaling and fisheries interests in the North Atlantic will participate in the second panel discussion.
