Drittsekk Drops One On His Own Doorstep Published in the International
Harpoon, No.3, 1995. IWC 47, Dublin.
British Minister of the Environment and leading whaling opponent, John Gummer, declared
the River Humber as open sea thus enabling him to exploit a legal loophole and allow the
discharge of sewage into the estuary.
Gummer is also popularly known as "the shitbag" after being called
"drittsekk" (No.= shitbag) by Norwegian Minister of the Environment,
Thorbjørn Berntsen, for refusing to discuss British acid rain over Norway on the grounds
of Norwegian minke whaling.
